Hermetic Order of the Garden Dawn is a secret society of PNW plant lovers helmed by husband and wife team Jess and Anders Kjell, specializing in regenerative dream gardens for the greater Seattle area. Regeneration is the next logical and heartfelt step past sustainability, not stopping at maintaining a non-harmful status quo but engaging in practices that leave the land more biodiverse, resource dense and resilient year after year. We use only organic methods (hand-weeding, mulching, and mycorrhizal composting, for example) to create the safest yard for dogs, children, and nature lovers alike. Our landscaping design and maintenance plans specialize in collaborating nature to dynamically harness abundance rather than trying to dominate it. This approach maximizes beauty while decreasing costs over time. Our passions lie in urban farming, native plants, climate change resilient landscapes, regenerative soil building, and functional food forests. The more you treat your yard like a mini ecosystem, the more plants, animals, pollinators, and humans thrive in the environment. We’re here to help you to steward the land for the benefit of all!

While our services fall under the general category of “landscaping” we aren’t a big fan of that word. We don’t do a lot of things you would expect traditional landscaping companies do (i.e. maintain lawns, hardscape with new mined stone, use gas shears, rake the ground “clean” after every visit) and we do a lot of things most landscapers do not (i.e. replacing lawns with edible ecosystems, hardscaping with found and recycled materials, hybridizing natives and native supporting plants for drought resilience).
